These credentials are valuable assets for those considering entry into a vocational or collegiate-level program, including one of the six State Maritime Academies and/or the U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC). Position a student to earn credentials required to obtain afloat positions in the maritime industry, such as the Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) and U.S.Offer courses taught by certified Career and Technical Education (CTE) instructors in afloat and ashore career tracks and some combination of courses on general seagoing operations (e.g., deck, engineering, etc.).Provide students with maritime skills that may lead directly to employment in the maritime industry or enable them to further their education at a maritime-oriented college or vocational/technical school.Maritime K-12 education programs included here generally : MARAD works with schools, industry, and government partners to f oster interest in maritime education and connect potential students with educational and training institutions.
